Class Title Executive Director for Advancement, Colleges and Units
This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Advancement, Colleges and Units. The Executive Director for Advancement – Colleges and Units will assist in the leadership and management over Advancement college-based development officers, and will oversee the management and development of fundraising projects and programs. This role will also be responsible for independently performing identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship with a 35-50 prospect portfolio.
Works closely with the Associate VP for Colleges and Units to ensure that advancement operations across institutions are being represented equitably.
Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects/donors performing identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship with an emphasis on campaign support.
Provides day-to-day management and long-term leadership for a cohort of college advancement operations.
Develops and maintains relationships with key university administrators such as the president, provost, deans, faculty and students, in order to maximize the university/advancement partnership.
Oversees budgetary management and will guide gift officer travel and prospect management.
Orients, trains, mentors, coaches and develops staff members, encouraging an appropriate level of independence
and supporting professional growth.
Effectively leads change initiatives affecting staff.
Collaborates with Advancement colleagues to adequately represent college-based development staff.
Establishes, delegates, communicates, monitors and reinforces staff assignments, accountabilities, performance
expectations and goals.
Position is expected to meet pre-determined goals and objectives established annually with the Associate VP.
Helps establish performance measures, monitors results and helps the Associate VP evaluate the effectiveness of the organization’s fund development program.

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience.
Additional Minimum Requirements
Superior written and oral communication, negotiating, organizational, analytical and fundraising skills, including the ability to interpret financial information and manage data. Excellent interpersonal skills to relate to donors, volunteers, colleagues and high-level university administrators.
