Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control business area is experiencing some substantial growth at our campus in Orlando, FL.
Lockheed Martin is seeking a Sr. Technical Writer for a position in Orlando, FL to write and edit repair procedures for Organizational level of maintenance. Responsibilities include:
-Performs validations / verifications in accordance with corporate policy.
-Interfaces with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to verify and understand technical concepts and develop courses of action to ensure project completion is on time and within budget.
-Writes technical content for maintenance technical manuals including installation, test, repair, and troubleshooting procedures.
-Authors Operator and Maintenance Technical Order at the Organizational Level.
-Acquires and verifies subject matter content by interviewing workers engaged in developing products, observing production methods, referring to engineering drawings, notes, manuals, and similar publications.

Where can you get to from Orlando? Orlando is about an hour’s drive from Cocoa Beach and the "space coast" to include NASA and the Kennedy Space Center. Tampa is about 1.5 hours from Orlando. West Palm Beach is about 2.5 hours to the south and Jacksonville is about 2 hours to the northeast. Atlanta, GA is 6 hours to the northwest.
-Bachelors degree in English, Technical Writing or similar degree.
-Ability to obtain a security clearance.
-Have a working knowledge of MIL-STD style guides MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-38784, or equivalent.
-Have a working knowledge of MIL-STD style guides MIL-STD-38784, MIL-PRF-38807, MIL-PRF-87929 and Government Printing Office style guide.
-Ability to write technical content for maintenance technical manuals including installation, test, repair, and troubleshooting procedures.
-Ability to author Operator and Maintenance Technical Order at the Organizational Level.
-Ability to acquire and verify subject matter content by interviewing workers engaged in developing products, observing production methods, referring to engineering drawings, notes, manuals, and similar publications
-Candidate must be familiar with the understanding of DOD Technical Manuals and Air Force Technical Orders.
-Candidate must be familiar with researching and reading Contracts, Statements of Work, Technical Manual Contract Requirements (TMCRs), and Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs).
-Familiar with layout, design and structure of Organizational Technical Orders (TOs) including Operation and Maintenance, Theory of Operation, Fault Isolation Procedures, and Illustrated Parts Breakdowns (IPBs).
-Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and software description documents.
-Working knowledge of Arbortext.
-Excellent written and oral communication is required and training process to generate required materials and conduct required in process reviews.
-Familiarization with S1000D and innovative training processes.
-Ability to perform and training needs analysis
-Experience in HTML / SGML / XML editing software and Arbortext Editor.
-Experience with tracking status for multiple projects.
-Previous military experience or working in DoD industry.
-Ability to interpret drawings, write using clear and concise language that adheres to customer-established standards and conventions.
-Have a working knowledge of Lockheed Martin Design Assurance processes to ensure milestones are achieved, including but not limited to review processes.
